The suspense surrounding the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate for Uttar Pradesh's prestigious Kaiserganj Lok Sabha constituency has finally come to a close. Sitting MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has decided not to contest the elections from this seat, with the party nominating his younger son, Karan Bhushan, for the upcoming polls.
The announcement was made after Karan sought blessings from his father and current MP Brij Bhushan, who, while endorsing his son's candidacy, urged supporters to rally behind Karan's campaign. Karan Bhushan is set to file his nomination at 11.00 am on Friday.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh's decision comes amidst allegations raised by women wrestlers, jeopardizing his own candidacy. Despite his strong hold on the Kaiserganj seat, BJP opted to field his son, Karan Bhushan, for the upcoming elections.
The nomination deadline for the Kaiserganj seat is May 3, with voting scheduled for the fifth phase. This phase will witness polling in several crucial constituencies across Uttar Pradesh, including Kaiserganj, underscoring the significance of BJP's choice in the region.
